Angelina Jolie’s well-publicized divorce from veteran actor Brad Pitt is getting messier by the day.
This is so much the case that Jolie, 41, has hired a well-known crisis management expert to handle the public relations disaster that has emerged in the light of her nasty divorce from Pitt, 52. According to BET News and other media sources, Jolie has retained the services of Judy Smith (pictured), the so-called “Real Life Olivia Pope.”
An unnamed source in Jolie’s camp has expressed the movie star’s desire to pursue a political career in the future. This is why Jolie has hired Smith to handle the public relations crisis, which has emerged since word got out about her divorce with Pitt after their eight-year relationship.
“Judy has been asked to consult with those working with Angelina on divorce negotiations,” Jolie’s unnamed source told People Magazine.
“Judy and her firm have a long history of handling issues that have unfortunately garnered too much attention in the public eye, and she knows how to push towards resolutions that are swift and discreet,” they continued.
Smith is very experienced in handling the crisis management affairs of some very notable people. Celebrities like Paula Deen, Michael Vick, as well as political train wreck figures like Monica Lewinsky have hired Smith to deal with their less than flattering public matters.
Smith is also an attorney, author, and TV producer. The accomplished 57-year-old is best known for inspiring the character actress Kerry Washington plays on the hit ABC show Scandal. Shonda Rhimes, the creator of Scandal felt compelled to make a TV project loosely based on Smith’s life after the two met each other some time years ago.
“I must do a show about your life,” Rhimes reportedly told Smith, according to Chicago’s ABC News Channel 7. Sources close to Pitt have not released a statement on Jolie’s decision to hire Smith as a crisis manager.
