A storied black married couple in Detroit, Michigan is making news headlines again over welcoming their seventh child together into the world.
Brian Maurice Brown (pictured right) and his wife of seven years Akia Brown (pictured left) welcomed daughter number seven into the world earlier this week. The Browns named their newborn daughter Bella. She weighed 5 lbs. and 13 oz.
Mr. and Mrs. Brown are a controversial pair for a number of different reasons. To start off, Mr. Brown is a former drug kingpin who made millions of dollars selling heroin. During his up and down relationship with Mrs. Brown, he served about 10 years in prison.
Mr. Brown has since reformed himself by venturing into the entertainment business. He is the founder of BMB Entertainment, a record label that has affiliated itself in the past with notable acts, such as singer Ray J and rapper Beanie Siegel.
Mrs. Brown is also a mercurial figure as well. She is the author of a book titled Beyond Love, an uncut memoir that details how her relationship went from so-called “hood love” to a full-fledged marital arrangement.
In her book, Mrs. Brown also gives details about her “open marriage.” Rolling Out Magazine spoke with Mr. and Mrs. Brown at the couple’s wedding anniversary and baby shower. The two of them showed solidarity and stood in defense of their lifestyle.
“It took a while to get here. Once I realized the type of man I married, I understood and accepted it. He’s not doing it for the notoriety. Once you’re around him and see he has a pure heart and how he loves everyone, you can’t help but love him,” Mrs. Brown said in her interview.
Mr. Brown continues to serve as BMB’s CEO and oversee the business affairs of his company. Mrs. Brown is currently working on her next book titled Beyond Motherhood.
