If you are struggling with fatigue then you should know that not getting enough sleep is not the only cause of it. Getting too much sleep and eating improperly can also cause fatigue. There are even serious medical conditions that have fatigue as a symptom, so if you are struggling with it and changing your lifestyle is not helping, then you should go see a doctor.

Anemia can cause fatigue. In fact, anemia is the main cause for fatigue amongst women. During menstruation women can lose a lot of iron making them deficient. Taking iron supplements and eating foods like beans and lean meat can help to replace some of the iron that your body is losing, hopefully fixing your fatigue.

Hypothyroidism could also be the cause of your fatigue. The thyroid is a small gland that controls your metabolism. It can be found at the base of your neck. When your thyroid is under-active then it does not turn fuel into energy very quickly, which can leave you feeling lazy and can cause you to gain weight. To find out if you do struggle with hypothyroidism you need to go to your doctor and have a blood test.

Overloading your body with caffeine can cause you to experience fatigue. Consuming too much caffeine can make you jumpy and raise your blood pressure and your heart rate. Research has shown that it can even be linked to fatigue. The solution is simple – cut back on your caffeine intake. Gradually reduce the amount that you take in because caffeine withdrawal can also cause fatigue.
