Contestants on the hit show The Biggest Loser drop incredible amounts of weight in a short time. They are pushed to their limits on the show. They exercise for hours and hours every day. They are forced to eat nothing but healthy food as unhealthy foods are generally not stocked in the ranch. They endure boot camp type exercises and criticism from their fitness coaches. For many this is exactly the push that they need in order to get down to a healthy weight. But what happens once they leave the ranch? What goes on after they are out of the “boot camp” mentality? The first female winner, Ali Vincent, opened up recently about her weight loss on the show, how she felt once she went home, and how she has since gained almost all of the weight that she had lost back.

It has been eight years since Vincent claimed the title of being the first female winner on the Biggest Loser. She went from 234 pounds to a trim 122 pounds when the show wrapped. She was happy, she was thin, and she felt healthy. Unfortunately those feelings didn’t last. She went home from the ranch and had a moment of panic. She didn’t know how she was going to be able to do this on her own without someone watching over her shoulder all of the time, without buying her food for her to make sure it’s healthy, or to push her exercises further. In 2008 she appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show and spoke about her time on the show and how it changed her life. She told Oprah that she was extremely nervous when she got home and had severe anxiety about it.

Today, eight years after her win, Vincent is finally coming out of the woodwork. She had hidden herself on social media because she was embarrassed. She was terrified that everyone was going to know that she had gained all of the weight back. She didn’t even get out of bed on the 8th anniversary of her win because she was too upset with herself. Finally she decided it was time to let the cat out of the bag. She made a post that stated her current state of mind and how she was ashamed that she had let herself gain all of the weight back. She prepared herself for a barrage of comments about her weight but instead found nothing but inspiration. She is again focusing on her health and going to Weight Watchers but is focusing more on how she feels physically this time as opposed to how thin she is.
