Former “American Idol” Contestant Reveals Sad News

Joanne Borgella is best known for her modeling with Wilhemina Modeling and also for being on American Idol. She is a beautiful plus-sized model who has battled talented singers on stage and has just recently come out with another battle. She revealed on Facebook that she is now battling cancer.

Borgella is an otherwise healthy 31 year old who gets regular check-ups at the doctor. She has said that it is a rare cancer because it has now spread to her chest. The “Curvy Girls” star has not revealed what type of cancer she is show in her short video to be undergoing chemotherapy treatments at the hospital.

Her mother is a cancer survivor. Borgella says that things are meant to happen, and if this is what is meant for her, it is just another part of her journey in life. She watched her mother go through it and come out of it a strong woman. She asks people to pray for her because she is a true believer that the power of prayer works.

Borgella began her career in 2005 when she won Mo’Nique’s Fat Chance “Miss F.A.T.” pageant. From there she went on to compete in season 7 of American Idol against singers such as David Cook, Carly Smithson, and Syesha Mercado. She was eliminated after the second Top 24 round after singing “I Say a Little Prayer”.

Her modeling career took off after winning the Miss F.A.T. pageant. She had content in Wal-Mart ads, Torrid, and Ashley Stewart. She is also one of the new faces of Proctor and Gamble’s new campaign that spotlights African-American women called “My Black is Beautiful”. She does some acting on a show called Curvy Girls which airs on NUVOtv.
