Former Destiny’s Child singer LeToya Luckett is about to shake things up. She will be joining the cast of Single Ladies. Her new role will be that of Felicia Price. She is a cold music management firm owner. Luckett did an interview with Bleu after a photoshoot for the Bombshell section of the magazine and spoke about her new role.
She says that this character is definitely not like her in real life at all. She said that Price is snappy but she is confident. She is cold which is a far cry from Luckett’s personality. She describes herself as a goofy and smiling person.
Luckett began her music career early in life by singing with her church choir. She met Beyonce Knowles in school and the two became friends. Beyonce invited her to join Destiny’s Child in 1993. Their first album was released in 1998 and went on to release chart topping hits. They made a second album in 1999 and it went platinum eight times and sold more than any other female group. The group was in full swing but Luckett and group member LaTavia Robertson requested new management because of the lack of communication with their current manager, who happened to be Beyonce’s father. They were quickly replaced with Michelle Williams and Farrah Franklin.
After her career with Destiny’s Child Luckett went on to form a group called Anjel with Robertson, but the group quickly fizzled and never ended up releasing any of the 22 demos that they made. Luckett then decided it was time to go solo. In 2003 she signed with Capitol Records and released her debut album which charted number one on the Billboard 200 for R&B. The album went gold and then platinum.
After releasing another solo album Luckett also began acting. She was in a few minor roles and a few supporting roles. Now she is on Single Ladies and will be a fresh new edition to the cast.
