Gilbert Arenas (pictured left) played in the NBA for 11 years on four different teams.
Arenas, 35, was the 31st overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft and was originally selected by the Golden State Warriors. However, his most notable stint as a franchise player lasted from 2003 to 2010 when Arenas was a member of the Washington Wizards.
But Arenas’ professional basketball career was plagued with problems, which were indicative of his immaturity, lack of sound judgement at times, and poor decision-making off the court. By 2012, Arenas was playing his last season in the NBA putting up pedestrian numbers and getting limited playing time.
The three-time NBA All-Star went from being one of the highest-paid players in the game to becoming an obscure shell of his former self. Today, he must have a lot of time on his hands. This is evident due to the wealth of outrageous things he posts on social media, which insult black women.
According to The Grio, Arenas posted an Instagram rant that was in response to a statement made by ProBlkThought, which read: “Dear Black Girl: You don’t have to be mixed to be beautiful.” Arenas’ tasteless response read as follows:
How black are we talking??? Not to be funny can u name a beautiful black women on the outside … not brown skin … like tyrese black … top 50 most beautiful women off [sic]all time … the darkest women they have is (Keshia Knight Pulliam aka Rudy) (gab)) union) (taral hicks) (Serena Williams) When u say African features black then u have (#1 lupita nyong’o) and she’s cute when the lights are off second is (Ajuma nasenyana) sorry but ewww so the black beautiful women u try to boost up is technically light skinned or brown skinned.
Arenas got a ton of public backlash on social media for posting his nonsensical opinion on Instagram. Getting the business motivated the NBA reject to apologize and retract his statement. However, he refused to apologize for disrespecting the looks of actress Lupita Nyong’o adding that she is “not cute.”
Nice job, Willie Lynch. Your plan has worked to perfection on Gilbert Arenas, the number one former NBA star- turned-aimless public rabble rouser.
