Do you often feel like you have a goal that you are trying to reach but you just can’t seem to get there? Do you find that motivation often falls to the wayside while you are trying to reach the goal that you have set out for yourself? You are not alone. It can be hard sometimes to stay on the right path especially when obstacles are put in your way that make you feel like giving up. For example if you are trying to lose weight and have been doing well with diet and exercise but you aren’t losing anything you may feel like it isn’t going to matter and you give up. Or you find yourself in a position where your healthy eating habits cannot be applied and instead of getting back on the horse after a cheat day you figure that it’s all blown anyway. Here are some tips to help you to reach your goals no matter what they are:

1. Think about what your best version of yourself is. Don’t think about what other people think is the best version of you. Don’t listen to what society thinks is best. Only think about your views. You know yourself better than anyone. You know where you are the most comfortable and when your personality is the most genuine. Keep this version of yourself when working on your goal so that you can figure out different ways to get yourself to that best version.

2. Get rid of the negative thoughts. Don’t think about obstacles as things that are blocking your progress. Look at them as challenges that you can work around and feel great about once you have moved past them. You need to keep the thought in your mind that you can do what you have set out to do. Positive thinking really does go a long way when it comes to striving for a personal goal. Don’t let anyone or anything bring negative thoughts into your mind.

3. We all have standards for ourselves. Look at what your personal standards are and raise them. The higher you raise your standards the more you will push to reach them. Make sure that you don’t set unrealistic expectations for yourself but you want to have something to keep pushing for so that you can be the best version of yourself.
