Healthy Body: “Black Girls Workout Too” New Workout DVD

DVDB101_outWith so many stereotypes for Black women, including being overweight and being too vain to mess up hairdos by working out, it’s refreshing to see the new product by a mother and daughter team who have just released a new DVD. While statistics do show that a significant percentage of Black women are overweight, it is  still not fair to paint all Black women with the same brush.

It’s also great to see women stepping out and being entrepreneurs and also keeping it in the family by supporting each other in both being healthier and building wealth. Group exercise is a great way to support and motivate each other.

Ellen and Lana Ector have transformed their popular workout group classes into a home workout DVD. The Atlanta-based mother-and-daughter fitness duo has put together “Black Girls Workout Too”, the wanted to debunk the myth that black women do not workout. Statistics show that 4 out of 5. African-American women are overweight or obese. This exercise program will push your heart rate while toning your entire body.

Ellen and Lana are behind Gymnetics Fitness, a private Atlanta-based studio that offers a variety of workout regimes to women of all ages.

The fitness DVD is currently available on the Ectors’ site for $25.
