How Fantasia Lost 50 Pounds After Baby


fantasia-on-red-carpetEven though Fantasia has worked hard to lose weight after having her baby boy, she admits that she can not entirely blame her extra pounds on baby weight because she began to gain weight before her pregnancy.

The dynamic singer had many challenges with her health and even had to undergo a surgery which  was actually a potential threat to her beautiful singing voice.

Sadly, the singer also became overwhelmed with the state of her life and even attempted to take her own life. Now she is back and seeing her back on top after such low lows has inspired many of her fans.

She started to pack on the pounds in 2011 when she was cast to play the lead role in the Mahalia Jackson biopic, but the project was put on hold the same year.

That’s when life started to spiral out of control; when she started dating a married man, and became pregnant with her son, Dallas Xavier.

After having the baby, she wanted to shape up and get things back in order.

So she generated a plan and made it happen.

“I workout every day, sometimes twice a day,” says Fantasia. “I keep my trainer with me and she travels with me. I love Pilates, yoga, and spinning. I also attend bootcamp class and they have become my workout family. Doing it with them makes me feel good.”

Exercising wasn’t a habit that came naturally to the singer, but she found a little motivation.

“A lot of my cousins who are my age or are in their 30′s are on high blood pressure pills and it’s like, c’mon, you’re too young for that,” says Fantasia. “I wanted to be the person in my family to stand up and say, okay we have to eat better and workout. I want to be around for a long time. I can’t travel like I do and not be healthy. You know how I move on stage. At any minute I could just pass out and that’s not good.”




    • I am so happy for you and you look beautiful. I am 61 and suffer from high blood pressure and I have just started eating better. I have also started dancing again to get off the BP medicine and other meds I take. Best inspiration ever.

      • glad u are starting to take control of your blood pressure. take your meds on time and if u have troublesome problems, tell your doctor so the dosage can be regulated or for you to get another type of medication. Cut way back on the salt and try to enjoy what u are eating and learn to like the natural flavors of food without grease, butter, lard a lot of salt. The old people ate meat once a week and that was Sunday. We eat too much meat now. Cut back and no hot dogs, bologna, or lunch meats. They have hidden salt in them. also ketchup and some sauces. and take a walk every day. add more everyday. Read your scriptures. Rest and enjoy your life and yourself. God bless.
