Singer, performer, and megastar Janet Jackson (pictured) shocked the world this past spring when she announced the cancellation of her Unbreakable North American tour.

Using social media, The 50-year-old “Control” hit maker told her fans that she was postponing her much anticipated tour to start a family. “My husband and I are planning our family,” Jackson said in a Facebook video. “Please if you can try to understand that it’s important that I do this now,” she continued.

Jackson’s announcement caused a whirlwind of confusion and criticism over ticket refunds and whether or not a woman at her age should be thinking about giving birth. However, Jackson and her billionaire husband Wissam Al-Mana went forward with their plans to procreate.

Jackson has only been seen in public one time since her pregnancy was announced. Media outlets have salivated over the opportunity to distribute pictures of Jackson’s baby bump, but to no avail. However, a report published this week by OK! Magazine  revealed that the veteran pop star may be in hiding for a serious reason.

An unnamed “insider” has allegedly told OK! Magazine that Jackson has been experiencing complications during her pregnancy and is on bed rest. The unnamed insider also claimed that Jackson has gained around 100 pounds since becoming pregnant.

“This pregnancy is doing a number on her,” OK! Magazine was reportedly told by an unnamed “insider.”

According to the “insider,” Jackson refused to appear publicly out of the fear that her reported “extreme weight gain” will be revealed to the public. Her only public appearance for a photograph happened this past July. She was photographed joining her husband as they entered a car.

Reps for Jackson have not yet revealed the gender of her baby. However, one of her brothers said that the family wishes good health for the child at birth. “[We’re just] hoping for a healthy baby,” Tito Jackson said this past June.
