The failing marriage saga between former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” co-stars Phaedra Parks (left) and Apollo Nida (right) has finally come to an end.
According to TMZ and other various media outlets, Parks, 43, and Nida, 38, have legally put the finishing touches on their divorce decree once and for all. A settlement has been reached, which includes a parenting plan.
The big issues that kept the whole divorce process dragging on for so long included disputes over how jointly-owned property would be divided, as well as the amount of monthly spousal support that would be paid out.
Over the course of the numerous court proceedings that went on before the divorce was finalized, Parks stated with certainty that a determinate prenuptial arrangement was in force prior to the marriage.
However, Nida’s legal representative made a request to have the prenuptial arrangement left out of account. Due to the confidentiality of the agreements, details about how monetary resources got divided were not made available to the public, TMZ reported.
As far as the custodial arrangement regarding the couple’s children goes, Parks was granted primary physical custody. Nida will have his share of joint custody rights and will also be able to have weekly phone calls to communicate with the two children.
Nida is currently serving an eight-year sentence in federal prison for his role in a money laundering scheme that was worth well over $2 million dollars. He initially faced over 30 years in prison after being indicted.
However, Nida’s sentence was reduced due to his full cooperation with federal authorities as they conducted their investigation. He is currently serving his time at FMC Lexington Prison in the U.S. state of Kentucky.
Parks and Nida originally married in 2009 during a star-studded ceremony on the set of “Real Housewives of Atlanta.” However, things really started going downhill approximately five years later when Nida’s federal case got underway.
