Actress Kerry Washington (pictured) and her former NFL star husband Nnamdi Asomugha have added a new, healthy addition to their family.
According to a Tuesday (October 18th) E! News Online exclusive report, the 39-year-old “Scandal” star gave birth to a baby boy on October 5th. This is Washington and Asomugha’s second child together. The couple named their newborn boy Caleb Kelechi Asomugha.
E! News has been the leading media source for covering Washington during her pregnancy. Getting the digs on the personal life of the lady who plays “Olivia Pope” on TV is a tall task considering the fact that she wisely keeps her family business guarded from the public.
Washington is about the only black female A-list celebrity who could have a baby without the world knowing about until two weeks later. It was a while before anybody publicly saw Washington’s last baby bump after conceiving her new child.
However, E! News was right there to break that story this past spring when Washington attended this year’s annual White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in Washington, D.C. She appeared at the dinner alongside her husband as the two hobnobbed with President Obama and the First Lady.
Washington only did a few interviews after giving birth to her first child, a girl named Isabelle. One of them was with the Los Angeles Times.
“I will say I feel really, really blessed. I just feel really blessed that I’m kind of living extraordinary dreams come true in my work life and in my personal life,” Washington told The Times in 2014.
So far, Washington has not publicly released any statements or conducted any interviews about giving birth to her second child. Her and her husband have done a good job of raising their first child out of the spotlight, which is a healthy thing for celebrities to do in a sensation-seeking, star-crazed society like America’s.
Congratulations to Washington and Asomugha for welcoming their new son Caleb to the family!
