In Hollywood, baby bumps are in the air once again.
This time, the new pregnancy confirmation has come from Scandal star Kerry Washington (pictured left). Washington, 39, and her retired NFL player husband Nnamdi Asomugha, 34 (pictured right), are expecting their second child, according to E! News. Two sources close to the couple allegedly confirmed the pregnancy rumors to E! News very recently.
Washington’s appearance with her husband at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in Washington, D.C. over the weekend started the speculation about Washington possibly being pregnant as her baby bump was on full display. She is also expected to attend the 2016 Met Gala on the evening of May 2nd.
Washington and her husband are very private when it comes to their family life. The couple had their first child (a daughter named Isabelle) on April 21, 2014. The couple has done a very good job of keeping their two-year-old daughter out of the public eye as they raise her together.
Washington’s colleague and Scandal co-star Tony Goldwyn told E! News in an interview in the past that motherhood has made her a better person. “[Motherhood] has just made her more awesome than she was to begin with,” Goldwyn said in his exclusive interview.
“She’s just so happy all the time as it does when you have a baby. It’s a magical time,” he continued. Washington and Asomugha got married on June 24, 2013, at a private ceremony in Hailey, Idaho. Asomugha, a former award-winning NFL cornerback has also kept himself out of the public eye since he retired as a professional athlete.
Both Washington and Asomugha are actively involved in philanthropic activities. In 2010, Asomugha received the 44th annual Byron White NFL Man of the Year Award from the NFL Player’s Association, a union for all the league’s players.
Washington is also a member of several organizations, which exercise social activism and charity throughout the world. HealthyBlackWoman.com congratulates this beautiful couple for having the opportunity to gain a new addition to their family.
