One of the most prolific pioneers for women in hip-hop music has united in holy matrimony with the man of her dreams.
According to Essence Magazine, legendary rap star and disc jockey Lana “MC Lyte” Moorer (pictured right) exchanged nuptials during a beautiful ceremony on a beach in Montego Bay, Jamaica. The 46-year-old “Poor Georgie” hit maker married a man named John Wyche (pictured left).
Wyche is a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and an entrepreneur. Moorer met Wyche last year on Match.com looking for someone to date. The couple got formally engaged earlier this year. The marriage was celebrated at Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort.
Moorer’s good friend and R&B singer Kelly Price offered live selections at the marriage ceremony. “It was so beautiful and a fairy tale,” says Lyte. “I got my king.” Moorer told Essence Magazine in an exclusive interview. She co-wrote a book titled Your Man and Your Money: How To Get’em and How To Keep ‘Em.
Moorer wrote this book with her business partner Dr. Lynn Richardson. Moorer spoke with Essence earlier this year as well when the news of her engagement was exclusively revealed by the women’s magazine. “Getting whisked away with all that MC Lyte is, it took me away from the reality of how important it is to have a significant other,” she said.
“I would advise all the women out there that have their paper straight and not the man to start to pay attention to that,” Moorer went on to say in her previous interview with Essence.
Wyche also spoke with Essence Magazine about the beautiful marital bliss he experienced with his new legendary bride on the gorgeous beaches of Jamaica.
“It’s incredible so many people came out to support our union. We are starting out with a strong foundation. A few months into getting to know Lana I knew I wanted this woman as my wife,” Wyche told Essence.
Congratulations to MC Lyte and her new husband as they begin a new chapter in their lives.
