Actress Laura Linney has recently given birth to her very first child. The 49 year old actress and her husband Marc Schauer welcomed a baby boy into the world on January 8th, 2014. This came as a surprise as Linney never mentioned that she was pregnant. The Big C actress got out of the spotlight after the show ended and didn’t go out into public very much. She was spotted in June but wasn’t sporting a baby bump at that point.

Schauer and Linney got engaged in 2007 and then married in 2009. This is the first child for the couple. They named the baby Barrett Armistead Schauer. During an interview in 2007 Linney seemed unsure as to whether she would ever have children or not. She said that she would not be upset if she became pregnant but was not sure at that point what the future held.

Linney was born with acting and theater in her blood. Her father, Romulus, was a playwright. During her senior year at Brown University she played the lead in his play, Childe Byron. She has won numerous awards including two Golden Globes, a SAG award, and four Emmys. She has also been nominated for three Tony Awards and three Academy Awards. In 1990 Linney had small roles in films such as Dave. Then in 1993 she broke out into some bigger roles in the movies Congo, Absolute Power, and Primal Fear. Her big break came in 1998 when she was cast as Jim Carrey’s wife in The Truman Show. She has been in many Broadway shows as well as movies and television series.

We wish Laura and her new family the best of luck!

  1. My mother was 47 when she gave birth to me, and 49 when she gave birth to my younger brother. That’s why I don’t find this news shocking.

  2. It’s a Blessing for any woman to give birth, it’s God’s Gift to us. I am Blessed to have four children and eight grandchildren. Congratulations Bella New Mommy!!

  3. Congrats on ur new bundle of joy. What a blessing! I needed to see this. At 40, with losing a tube to an ectopic, doctors are all leaning toward “not possible”…I see God still is in the blessing business!! Totally awesome!
