A lot of Black single men and women have lost hope when it comes to finding someone to spend the rest of their life with. it seems that every blog, statistic and forum is singing the same tune: Black people have  a low likelihood of being in sustainable marriages.

But what if you could change those sad predictions by moving to a city which has favorable statistics when it comes to not only building a great life and career but also finding someone to spend the rest of your life with? According to The African American Healthy Marriage Initiative records , 42 percent of black men and 41 percent of black women are unmarried. But in 3 cities, those statistics are not so true. In fact, these three cities may just be the answer to a happy forever with your future spouse. The top three cities for Black singles are San Diego, Houston and Washington, D.C.

San Diego
  • In 2000, there were 1.5 million black women to 0.8 million Black men living alone in the U.S. Today, the gap continues to grow as black women still overpopulate Black men. In the city of San Diego, however, this is not the case. The Black male population actually exceeds the Black female population with 100 bachelors between the ages of 18 and 34 to every 57 black bachelorettes of the same age range. Black singles ready to mingle may find that San Diego has many enticing single spots — Pacific Beach, Mission Beach Boardwalk and popular nightclubs, such as the Gaslamp Quarter.

  1. Interesting article about San Diego.

For those of us who actually live here calling SD best place for black singles is not the case.

While there maybe more black men here per your article. They are here because they are in the military- Navy or Marines. However, a large portion of military men and others do not choose to date black women. With that said, I wouldn’t deem San Diego as a best place for black singles at all. This fact can be misleading for single, black women thinking that SD is a “gold mine” for potential partners.

Also the total black population of San Diego county is either around 6% of 1.3 million people.

  2. ^^^ I agree with this comment 100%…. I lived in San Diego for two years while enrolled in graduate school it was not the place at all for dating. I wish I would’ve done my research prior to moving there ,but yes the black men for the most part do not date black women and prefer to date/marry women of other nationalities.
