If you go to your general physician you may end up getting no diagnosis or getting the wrong diagnosis. Taking the wrong medication can leave you with more problems than you started with.
2.Do not overdo it with the pills. Some medications may help with chronic pain, but the second they are not taken anymore, the pain comes back and often feels worse than before. This is why people abuse pain medications.
3.Look out on the internet or in your library and do your research. You may not believe what the doctor tells you or you would like to go into an appointment armed with questions to ask. Sometimes they will tell you that there is no treatment when there are actually many. You just have to know where to look.
4.Recently, epidurals and other pain medication injections have become an effective form of treatment for chronic pain. They are usually used to treat a nerve at the source and are minimally invasive.
5.Take control of your expectations and make sure that you are not setting them too high. If you have a really high expectation for managing your pain, you may become easily frustrated if certain medications or treatments don’t work as well as you think they should.
