Mary J. Blige has released a brand new video to help promote an upcoming album, which will add to her accomplished body of work.
The 45-year-old Grammy Award-winning singer and performer just released the video to “Thick Of It,” an approximately four minute-song about her failed marriage to Kendu Issacs, her former manager. Blige’s latest single will be appearing on her 13th full-length album, which is titled “Strength of a Woman.”
Since being released via YouTube on Monday (November 7th), Blige’s new video has already surpassed 100,000 views.
Blige’s latest album is due to be released before the end of the year. According to The Grio, the “My Life” hit maker appeared on a British television show to talk about how ending her marriage has made her feel. Blige filed for divorce this past July after being married for 13-years.
The subsequent media circus that ensued afterwards adversely affected Blige.
“I’m in the thick of it. I’m in the middle of a divorce that’s everywhere (in the news). It’s just how hard life is. It’s the pain, it’s the lawyers, it’s the ‘this,’ it’s the ‘that’…Not even knowing someone that you thought you knew for years is horrible,” Blige said on the British television show.
However, the accomplished songstress remains upbeat about her career and ability to remain steadfast.
“There’s hope in it as well, because I have to keep the joy so I can live and survive. I can’t just die with all the sadness, that’s why I’m here because I kept my joy. In spite of my pain and crying and releasing everything onstage to my fans and us healing together, I kept my joy,” she continued.
Blige’s divorce with Issacs has indeed been messy. Her former husband and manager is asking for astronomical amounts of money per month in alimony and spousal support. To watch Blige’s latest video “Thick Of It.” please click here.
