Several weeks ago, R&B singer Michelle Williams and her fiance (as well as Chad Loves Michelle co-star) Chad Johnson made headlines for debuting a display of their real life marriage engagement on reality television.
Johnson (pictured left) is also a church pastor and Williams (pictured right) formerly said in media interviews how difficult it was for her to subscribe to Johnson’s religious beliefs, which prohibit premarital intercourse. The former group member of the Beyoncé-led Destiny’s Child said the following in an interview with The Breakfast Club:
“So when we started dating, Chad said, ‘Sex is not an option,’ and I was like, ‘Okay! All right, cool.’ I’m not about to go into marriage a virgin, I don’t want anyone to think that I’ve been perfect. But I felt this was so good because I don’t feel pressure to have sex to keep a man, everything to keep a man. I don’t have to do that, I don’t have to feel the pressure of that.'”
However, things have been very rocky over the course of their relationship. Williams met Johnson some time in 2017 at a spiritual retreat. She has struggled with issues related to her mental illness and had already broken up with Johnson twice during her relationship with him.
According to a Friday (December 7) report by The Grio, the pair officially split for good this time right as Williams released a new music single called “Fearless.” The “Bug A Boo” hit maker also made a post on Instagram, which confirmed her cordial breakup with Johnson.
“I still remain fearless. I guess I still remain single! Things didn’t work out. The healing that needs to take place is a must! I don’t wanna destroy another relationship. Blessings to him, his family and ministry. #FEARLESS,” Williams posted on the social media site.
Williams and Johnson became formally engaged this past April. They are the latest in the long list of celebrity couples who have broken up in the midst of filming reality television shows about their relationships or marriages.
