Former Destiny’s Child singer Michelle Williams (pictured right) recently interviewed on The Breakfast Club morning show with her fiance Chad Johnson (pictured left) to promote their new OWN reality show series Chad Loves Michelle.
Johnson is also a pastor who has participated in organized ministry for 22 years. This couple’s reality television show series has not necessarily set the world on fire. According to a report this past week by ThatGrapeJuice.net, the program’s November 3 debut received mediocre ratings, which is definitely why the two are appearing on popular radio and television shows to increase their visibility and boost promotional activity.
The headline-making publicity caper being conjured up now is the issue of Williams claiming that Johnson has sworn off premarital intercourse. The “Soldier” songstress told the trio of hosts at The Breakfast Club that it was Johnson who took the lead in making abstinence a priority during their formal engagement phase. This is certainly a value upheld by true practicing Christians and it should come as no surprise given the fact that Johnson is a pastor.
“So when we started dating, Chad said, ‘Sex is not an option,’ and I was like, ‘Okay! All right, cool.’ I’m not about to go into marriage a virgin, I don’t want anyone to think that I’ve been perfect. But I felt this was so good because I don’t feel pressure to have sex to keep a man, everything to keep a man. I don’t have to do that, I don’t have to feel the pressure of that, and I got different results,'” Williams said in her interview.
However, Williams did ramble about the difficulties she has endured while having to refrain from any kind of intercourse.
“We were dating less than a year and he put a ring on it with no booty. I can’t even hug him. I be like, ‘Yooooo!’” Williams said.
Chad Loves Michelle is programmed on OWN at 9 pm EST each Saturday.
