Paula Patton has been pretty quiet about her private life thus far, especially when it comes to matters with her now separated husband, singer Robin Thicke. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair she finally spoke up about what caused the breakdown. A few months ago all she would say was that they are still best friends and still love each other but had decided together that separating would be the best thing for them at that time.
Now in the interview with Vanity Fair Paula has become a little more candid about the situation. She said that she loves Thicke very much and always will, but did not hint at whether they would be getting back together any time soon. She and Thicke met when they were just teenagers at an under-18 club in LA. He was only 14 years old and she was only 15. After a soulful serenade in Alan Thicke’s living room they shared their first kiss. He chose to sing Jodeci’s “Forever My Lady” to her. She said that Thicke was not the first person that she had kissed but coyly stated that he was her first for many other things.
From the interviews that she has had it appears that the couple will not be reuniting any time soon but some think that maybe it is just a ploy to keep the media out of their business.
Although nothing was confirmed by the couple as to why their marriage fell apart earlier this year, media outlets reported that it was allegedly triggered by the Miley Cyrus/Blurred Lines incident at the MTV Video Music Awards. TMZ reported that a source that was close to the couple said that Patton was extremely disappointed in the antics on stage and that is what lead to the split along with Thicke’s various outings with other women at nightclubs.
