Quercetin: What It Is and Why Women Who Workout Need It

Many women are always looking for easy ways to get more energy without having to take pills. We look for vitamins and minerals that will give us the boost that we need without drinking a pot of coffee a day. Most importantly we look for an energizer that does not make us crash later on in the day. Enter quercetin.

Quercetin is an antioxidant that has some additional benefits. It can help to energize you, give you endurance during a workout, and best of all can help as an anti-inflammatory. Here are some foods that quercetin is found in and how you can use them.

– Raspberries are a great snack that have quercetin in them. You can add them to so many different things such as cottage cheese or low-fat yogurt. This will provide you with a healthy option after your workout and will help your muscles to relax when the workout is done.

– Tomatoes and red onions have quercetin in them. You can add them to salads, sandwiches, and soups for an added boost. You can also take them and add green chili peppers, cilantro, and a bit of lime juice, combine in a blender or food processor, and you have homemade salsa. You can add salsa to many things like grilled chicken or a salad.

– If you are craving something sweet after dinner but don’t want a sugar crash try putting unpeeled red apples, grapes, and raspberries into a bowl and drizzle them with a small amount of all-natural honey.

– Finally you can get capers and put them on a salad. You can also cook them with lemon and chicken for a delicious and energizing dish.
