Essence magazine hosted its 2013 Music Festival this past Friday, July 5th at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. While the performers were backstage preparing for their performances, a group of black men were on stage talking about something everyone can relate to…relationships.
Actors Nathan Owens (Days of Our Lives), Laz Alonzo (Deception), Redaric Williams (Young and the Restless), and Bravo chef Roble Ali joined Destiny’s Child singer Michelle Williams on the stage. They had a candid chat about $ex and love topics. The session went on for an hour and discussed what men really think about women when it comes to love and when it comes to $ex.
When asked what he looks for in a female partner, Alonzo answered that his significant other is his refuge from an otherwise stressful and hectic life. He says it makes life worth living when you have someone there for you at the end of the day that will listen to your problems and help you to solve them.
The hour long discussion covered topics ranging from how men feel about being cheated on to the importance of spirituality, and what keeps them faithful as their relationships go on. Chef Ali stated that making sure that things don’t become too routine, being engaging and paying attention is what keeps him faithful. Williams said that you have to be ready to be in a relationship where you remain faithful and it will come with time. If you are not ready to be in that type of relationship, there is a good chance you may stray.
Another lively discussion that featured Nicole Murphy, a model, gave tips on how to unleash your inner naughty girl. Murphy said that she likes when a man will court a woman and that they always want what they can’t have.
