Tennis megastar Serena Williams (pictured right) and her fiancé, technology businessman Alexis Ohanian (pictured left) have finally welcomed the newest edition to their happy family.
According to the New York Daily News and various other national, as well as local media sources, Williams gave birth to a healthy baby girl earlier today at the St. Mary’s Medical Center of West Palm Beach, Florida.
Coincidentally, Williams and Ohanian’s brand new baby girl was born right in the middle of this year’s U.S. Open tennis tournament. Chris Shepherd, a producer for WPBF-25, a local ABC-affiliated media source posted a message on Twitter citing a St. Mary’s representative confirming the great news.
“Tennis star Serena Williams gives birth to a baby girl weighing 6 pounds, 13 ounces. Mom and baby doing well,” Shepherd tweeted today.
West Palm Beach’s CBS 12 News also published a report today, which stated that Williams’ labor was induced yesterday evening. The news source received the details from a staff member at St. Mary’s Medical Center.
“Williams checked in to the hospital Wednesday and has the entire first floor cleared, no one can get in without going through security,” reads the CBS 12 News report. “According to hospital personnel, Williams was induced Thursday night,” the report goes on to read.
In early July 2017, Ohanian did an interview for CNBC’s Squawk Box television show and expressed public support and praise for his beautiful fiancé. He expressed confidence that Williams will be a fantastic parent.
“She’s very good at a lot of things and well on her way to being an awesome mom too,” Ohanian told CNBC in his interview.
The New York Post reported that Ohanian plans to take a six-week leave of absence to focus on the health of his fiancé and their newborn baby girl. Congratulations to Alexis Ohanian and Serena Williams for welcoming their tiny bundle of joy!
