Serena Williams has had to listen to people criticize her body from a very young age. People say that she is too muscular and men won’t find her attractive. They say that she is not s*xy enough because she has too many muscles and has a thicker frame. There are many people who compliment her as well, but sometimes it can be hard to drown out the negativity. She has been able to do just that. She said that she refuses to change who she is for anyone other than herself, no matter what is said about her. She knows her body, knows herself, and knows that she is happy with who she is. Recently she was on the cover of Fader, a magazine that showcases mostly musical acts but adds in powerful stories. She told them during her interview that what matters the most to her is how she feels about herself, and not what others think about her.
Williams has always been a positive force for young women all over the world. She has never compromised her beliefs for anyone else. She believes that everyone should have self-confidence and should understand that what other people think about them shouldn’t matter. It is all how you feel about yourself and the person that you are on the inside and outside. She said that if you do not love who you are no one else can truly love you either. She has a lot of love in her life because she loves herself. Beyonce asked her to be in the Lemonade video because she is a strong, confident, and gorgeous woman. She is a wonderful role model for all young women. After appearing in the video she began to receive criticism because she was being “too s*xy”.
Not only is Williams confident about herself but she is humble as well. She cares about her sister’s career just as much as her own and cheers her on as often as possible. She told Fader that she didn’t come from anything special at the start. She was a regular person with a regular childhood but used hard work and dedication to get to where she is now. She is considered to be one of the greatest athletes of all time.
