Sherri Shepherd has been on the tip of the media’s collective tongue as it was reported that her husband, Lamar Sally, filed for divorce. The View co-host is reported to have separated from her husband and while dealing with that, was also slapped with a lawsuit from her ex-husband Jeff Tarpley. Tarpley, who has a son with Shepherd, was reported to have been suing her so he could get full custody of their son.
Talking to E! News, the comedienne and actress shared that she is choosing to learn from the whole experience. She said,
“I know that you cannot grow without pain,” she said at the 13th Annual Samsung Hope for Children Gala in New York City. “Growth is hard and growth is a struggle, and it hurts and you’ve got to go through that in order to grow or you stay the same.
I feel as long as you can get up and look up, you have another chance and another chance to make things right. Again, going through all my craziness, I hope that my character and my integrity speaks for me, so I stand behind that.”
The talk show co-host says she is not ready to think about a new man and that she will need some time.
“I may not be the best person to ask at this time about a guy, but check back with me in a year about that subject!”
For now the soon to be single mother says she is focusing on her son. Choosing not to mention the legal back and forth she is going through with her ex-husband, she says,
“I try to bring my son up to be a kind person…I think being kind and being able to forgive is most important. You really have to be able to forgive and you have to be kind to one another.”
It looks like even though Shepherd may be going through a tough time in her life, she is choosing to be positive about everything.
