Beyonce’s youngest sister Solange Knowles has decided to cancel her European tour so that she can focus on her physical and mental health. She made a statement on her website that said that she was heartbroken and devastated to have to cancel the international festivals that she was to play at, but she needed to be able to balance her home life with her work life. Her son was starting out in a new school, she had just moved to a new city, and she was also working on her new album. She thought that this was the best solution for everyone involved.
Knowles recently moved from Los Angeles all the way to Brooklyn. Her eight year old son Daniel Jules and her love, music video director Alan Ferguson, moved out with her. She had nine international dates set up in countries including Poland, Finland, Sweden, Belgium, Denmark, and Portugal. She said she is sorry if she had disappointed anyone and would be hoping to book those cities someday soon.
Earlier this month Solange performed at Glastonbury, however she canceled her appearances at Yorkshire’s Beacons and London’s Koko festivals. She states that motherhood is a very delicate balancing act and it wasn’t easy. They were isolated when they were living in LA as they didn’t have family or friends around. Now that they are in New York, they have many family members and good support systems around to help them when life becomes a struggle. She speaks with her sister almost every day.
Solange says that being a new mother is already hard enough but then you have to hear advice come from other mothers who are quick to tell you what you are doing wrong but not what they can do to help fix it, it makes it even harder. She feels much happier now being near her sister.
