Weight-Loss Is Tricky – Sometimes You Just Lose Water Weight and Not Fat

There are so many diets out there that are promising that you can lost five to ten pounds to be week if not more. Most of them seem to be too good to be true, and if you really do lose that amount of weight it is usually not the healthy way. So how much weight can you safely lose per week?

The amount of weight that you can safely lose during a weeklong period is four to five pounds. This of course depends on the weight that you are when you start and how much work you put into it. People who are heavier usually lose more per week to start with once they begin dieting and exercising. It also depends on how you live your life before starting the diet. If you consume 3,000 calories per day and then go down to 1,500 you will obviously lose more than someone who starts at 2,000 calories per day. Those who try cleanses and detox diets report losing more weight per week, but a lot of that is water weight which is very different from losing fat and gaining muscle.

If you are looking to lose weight and keep it off, the best range per week is one to two pounds. You will have an easier time maintaining a diet that keeps a consistent amount of weight off as opposed to going for bigger numbers, getting frustrated, and then giving up.

If you still feel that you need to lose more weight, try intermittently doing a huge calorie cut. This way you will not have to rearrange your schedule or worry about going on a huge binge when you get tired of not being able to eat the foods you love. Make sure that you continue to exercise as well.
