The reason that you go to the gym to work out is to burn calories, get fit, and lose weight. So many people however end up gaining weight even if they go to the gym religiously. Why does this happen? Well, it’s all in what they eat before and after their exercise session.
Forza Supplements conducted a survey and found that many people see the scale going the wrong way even though they are exercising. They polled 1,000 people about their exercise and dieting habits. Out of those 1,000 people, 26% said that they put on weight even after going to the gym. The number of times that this 26% went to the gym varied from once a week to every day.
Irregularity can be a factor in weight gain after a gym session however it is mostly due to diet. People seem to think that they can eat bad foods before or after a workout and the calories that they burn at the gym will take care of it. This is not a correct theory. You cannot burn off the bad foods that you eat if you consume more than you burn. If you eat something that is 780 calories, it would take you 72 minutes of jump roping to burn just that one item of food off. Eating healthy is as important to losing weight, even more so than going to the gym.
When you are snacking before or after a workout make sure that you are eating protein rich foods or foods that are packed with water like fruits and veggies. Be careful not to eat too much even if it is healthy food because that can make it harder to burn off after. Controlling your portions and the amount of bad foods that you eat will help you to lose the weight that you are trying to get rid of!
