A woman says that she has the right to sue after she allegedly caught herpes from a lipstick store endorsed by Rihanna. Starkeema Greenidge, 28, says that she got the virus when a sales associate applied a used tube of the lipstick to the woman’s lips. She says that contracting the virus kept her from being able to earn money and that she also suffered humiliation.
“I wasn’t able to work for two weeks. It cost me a lot of money,” Greenidge, said.
The woman says that she put the name MAC in her lawsuit in order to get the company to be more careful in the future. She says the company should be better trained to protect the public.
“This is going to happen over and over again if nothing is done,” said Greenidge.
Starkeema Greenidge’s lawsuit was filed in Manhattan and the woman claims that she was told to purse her lips together and move the lipstick around. She says that the MAC pop-up shop was set up outside a Rihanna concert and also endorsed by the singer.
“(MAC) didn’t use a fresh or new lipstick tube, but rather one that had been used for other patrons,” the suit charges.
The woman says that MAC “should have known that by failing to use a disposable sample, separate lipstick, or separate swab for each patron, it was unsanitary and exposing patrons to possible spread of disease.”
Shortly after using the lipstick, the woman says that she developed cold sores. Yuck.
