Even if you are the healthiest person around there are still toxic triggers each day that can make you tired and sluggish no matter how fit you are. Here are the four biggest “toxins” that can make your health take a nosedive.
1. Cleaning products: Whenever you are disinfecting the house because your child has been coughing on everything think about what you are cleaning your house with. Do you use chemicals that are strong and unbearable to smell for long periods of time? Think about switching to natural cleaners that are based off of essential oils. These will help to limit your exposure to the chemicals. You can also get a few houseplants as they have been shown to clear the air.
2. Sleep: You need to get sleep. This is how your body recovers from the day that you have just had. If you do not get enough sleep at night you are more likely to feel horrible the next day. Eight hours per night is the recommended amount of sleep for an adult to be at their healthiest. Sometimes this is not always possible but there are things that you can do to help such as go to bed earlier so you can get more sleep in, reduce any caffeine or sugar intake at night, and try some breathing exercises to help you fall asleep.
3. Past bad habits: Remember all of that junk that you ate at sleepovers as a kid or all of the horrible snacks that you would eat when you came home from school? Your body is most likely still holding on to those and it is time for a detox. Stop bad habits that you are doing now such as smoking or drinking so that your body can repair itself from your past transgressions.
4. Convenience food: Foods that are easy to grab on the go are horrible for a healthy lifestyle. They rarely have any nutritional value and are loaded with bad carbs and fat, not to mention a boatload of calories. Try reducing the frequency of dinners out.
