Your emotions are a big part of how you process the world around you. They make up your personality and can also control your DNA, according to a new study. You get what you give with the universe, so if you give out positive emotions you will get positive reactions from the universe. If you are a Negative Nancy all day it will get worse and worse as the day goes on.

When you have positive emotions running through you, you will experience several benefits such as better health and job performance. It can help your relationships with other people as well.

In the early 1990s a study was conducted by cell biologists, Glen Rein and Rollin McCraty.  McCraty is the IHM (Institute of Heart Math) Research Director. They did experiments to see the link between our DNA and emotions that they intentionally generated. The data was eventually summarized and in 2003, it was printed in a brief report called Modulation of DNA Conformation by Heart-Focused Intention. They stated in the report that the results showed that through intentional emotions the DNA molecules can be altered.

The participants of the experiments were comprised of a test group that was trained in HeartMath’s heart coherence-building techniques while the control group had no idea about these techniques. Each person was then given a DNA sample in a test tube and either told to wind or unwind the sample using three separate methods.

Coherence is when your body is more ordered throughout the different systems of the body, including a more orderly heart rhythm. The results were that those who were trained in this method were able to change the DNA strand that they were given. The control group participants were not able to do this. There is need for further testing of this method, but the theory is that if we learn how to force our body into coherence, we could potentially alter our own DNA.
