Hollywood has finally given a well-established black female actress the recognition she’s earned throughout the years by ingraining her name on a highly-coveted platform.
According to Vibe Magazine and various other national media sources, Viola Davis (pictured), has officially gotten her star casted on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Davis had her name added to the list of over 2,500 other famed entertainers last on Monday (December 19th).
Ana Martinez, a Hollywood Walk of Fame producer sent an announcement via Twitter confirming the big news in tweet she sent out.
“First star of the new year will be for actress Viola Davis who will be honored on January 5. See http://www.walkoffame.com for more details,” Martinez posted.
Vibe columnist Shenequa Golding summed up Davis’ new accomplishment perfectly in an online article on the magazine’s website, which was published Tuesday (December 20th). Golding’s article reads as follows:
“There are actresses, and then there’s Viola Davis. The 51-year-old Academy-Award nominee has been enticing moviegoers for years, and more recently captivated viewers as the morally watered down Annalise Keating on ABC’s How To Get Away With Murder. On Christmas day, Davis will shine bright like a diamond once again in Fences, starring opposite Denzel Washington who also acts as the movie’s director. And while Davis has long had the support of the people, she’ll now forever be immortalized on Hollywood Walk of Fame with her own star.” (Vibe Magazine)
Viola Davis is a one-in-a-million kind of entertainer. She has not only accomplished a lot as an actress. In the world of entertainment, very few black people (let alone black women) have the opportunity to make big splashes in the business world as producers with their own major stock of independent creative control.
JuVee Productions, (a television and film production company that Davis co-owns) has inked some big time deals with ABC in 2016, which will bring great new things in the world of entertainment for the year 2017.
Congratulations to Davis for an amazing career and the many other accomplishments that will come to her in the future.
