Star-studded film and television actress Angela Basset (pictured) has made quite an impact over the course of her career in entertainment.
Her strong performances in biographical roles for films such as What’s Love Got to Do With It? and Malcolm X have showcased her talent as a thespian. At 59, she has remained in high demand and relevant in an industry where some black actresses half her age have already faded into obscurity.
Basset’s most recent performance came earlier this year in Marvel’s Black Panther, a black superhero sci-fi smash, which was directed by Ryan Coogler, a proven up-and-comer behind the camera. According to Forbes Magazine, Marvel’s historic blockbuster grossed over a billion dollars at the box office.
However, for Basset, winning a Golden Globe (which she earned from What’s Love Got to Do With It?) or starring in billion-dollar films is not what she considers to be her biggest life accomplishment. Approximately two weeks ahead of her 60th birthday bash, Basset reflected on what matters most to her.
The Buddy just reported that Basset has continued to maintain her healthy and stringent diet to make sure she looks absolutely stunning at her A-lister birthday party, which is scheduled to go down in Los Angeles. The Waiting to Exhale star also exercises twice a day.
“My greatest accomplishments are my family and my kids. Seeing them grow up beautifully and respectfully is an amazing thing to watch. They are delightful individuals, and they make me so proud,” Basset said, according to The Buddy.
Basset’s star-studded birthday bash, which is scheduled for August 16th has a list of high-profile invitees, such as NBA basketball legend Earvin “Magic” Johnson, legendary actor Samuel L. Jackson, her husband Courtney B. Vance, and many other celebrity figures.
