Drop Weight With This Drink; Hint: It’s Not a Colon Cleanse

Tea is a great beverage. It is nice to sip on a cold winter day or when you are feeling sick. But did you also know that tea can help you to lose weight? That’s right! Tea is now considered a superdrink because of this.

After an analysis of studies that were published in the December 2013 issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition it was found that green tea, oolong tea, and white tea have something in them called catechins. These catechins along with the caffeine that is found in tea help your body to oxidize fat and increase the rate that your body expends its energy. This could help you to increase the rate that you shed the pounds.

One study that was from 2009 showed that people dropped more weight over a 12 week period when they regularly drank green tea. Another study that took place in 2011 showed that the catechins in tea could help you to burn 100 extra calories per day.

Not only does green tea help you to lose weight but it has a multitude of other health benefits as well. There are loads of antioxidants that are found in green tea which can help you to boost your immune system and speed up your metabolism. Green tea has been shown to reduce the risk of having a cardiovascular disease and decrease your risk of developing certain cancers. When you are shopping for a green tea, make sure that you look at the EGCG content on the package. This is the antioxidant that makes the tea so healthy. Some companies filter their tea so much that the tea is pretty much rendered ineffective because all of the EGCG is taken out.



  1. Make a big pot every day and drink several cups of hot green tea daily. Excellent winter drink!

    Enhance green tea flavor and brew with cinnamon sticks or fresh ginger. Sweeten slightly with honey, raw sugar, or stevia.
