Serena Williams Announces She is 20 Weeks Pregnant

A woman considered by many to be the most dominant female athlete in the world has made a bombshell revelation about her personal life.

According to Sports Illustrated Magazine, professional tennis star Serena Williams, 35, made an announcement recently on Snapchat that she was 20 weeks pregnant. The words “20 weeks pregnant” were written in a caption on a Snapchat photo of Williams wearing what appears to be a bright yellow bathing suit.

However, the 23-time Grand Slam title winner deleted the Snapchat photo from her account minutes after posting it. But that didn’t stop BuzzFeed News correspondent Jarret Wieselman from nabbing the photo to post on his own Twitter account with a caption reading: “Serena Williams is pregnant!!”

Wieselman’s post was retweeted almost 20,000 times and liked almost 30,000 times. Though Williams announced that she was five months pregnant, the baby bump protruding on her midsection doesn’t look too big based on what is seen in her photo.

Williams is obviously taking good care of her body now that she’s going to be eating for two for the next four months. In December 2016, Williams announced her engagement to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian. Ohanian, 33, and Williams spent time in Australia for the New Year’s holiday prior to the 2017 Australian Open.

In addition to founding, Ohanian is an established tech entrepreneur and best-selling author. Williams and Ohanian were dating secretly for 15 months before their engagement late last year. The two met each other in Rome, Italy.

Since Williams’ pregnancy has been confirmed, it is plausible to surmise that the 2017 winner of the Australian Open was expecting her first child all while trouncing her opponents in a world-class tennis tournament.

However, her very last match against Venus Williams, her elder sister, was not easy to win. A 6-4, 6-4 victory in favor of the younger Williams sister gave her the most Grand Slam wins in women’s tennis history.
