Online dating websites are not for everyone, but they seemed to work out well for Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star Tatyana Ali. This week she married her boyfriend Dr. Vaughn Raspberry whom she met on the dating site E-Harmony. The couple began chatting on the site in 2014. Ali told Entertainment Tonight that they had started out writing letters for a few months. They then communicated through Skype and eventually met in person. Dr. Raspberry is a professor at Stanford University. The couple is expecting their first child any day now.
The small wedding was held outdoors and there were only 120 people in attendance. Among family and friends the two said their vows to each other. A glowing Banks looked beautiful in her designer Amsale gown. Ali said that her wedding planner, Michael Russo, made sure that everything was very low stress for her. When they found out that they were expecting a child their focus of wedding planning changed as they wanted it to center around their newest addition. Ali has stayed silent on the specific due date or the gender of their bundle of joy.
On a warm day earlier this year Ali and Raspberry went for a hike through Yosemite. Ali said that in the middle of a large and beautiful clearing he got down on one knee and proposed. It was private and romantic. Instead of having a traditional shower and bachelor/bachelorette party they opted for a fun day out with friends and family at Disneyland. Some of her former cast mates from the Fresh Prince attended the ceremony.
Ali has been in the news quite a bit recently and not just for her wedding or her baby on the way. She has filed a lawsuit against Warner Brothers and Telepictures TV for allegedly stealing her idea for the show “The Real”. Ali claimed that in 2012 she brought the idea for the show to the executives of the two media giants and they passed on. Then six months later they debuted “The Real” as something that they had created on their own. In the suit she is seeking an undisclosed amount in damages. The five-host show has done relatively well with ratings even though there has been some turmoil over the three years that it has been on the air.
